Building Momentum Throughout The Year, The AWD TT Finishes The Baja 1000

PERRIS, CA

There is a phrase “It takes a village to raise a child” which perfectly describes the AWD TT’s developmental journey throughout the 2022 season. The Brenthel Industries team sets itself apart from most off-road manufacturers by adhering to the principles of design for manufacturability and by maintaining strict standards of process control. That means that the last part out of the fixture is as precise as the first. In order to build something significant, you need to start with a solid foundation. That is exactly what this year has meant for the AWD TT.

Since the debut of the truck in the beginning of 2022, the team has spent many long hours in the shop and in the dirt preparing for the toughest test the AWD has faced, competing in the Baja 1000. The Baja course’s are brutal and rough and equalize the competition and equipment in the field. Piloted by talented drivers and co-drivers throughout the season, the AWD finished 5th at the Baja 400 in September to set the team up with a solid starting position for the 1000.

At the helm for the first leg of the 1000 was team driver Kyle Jergensen & co-driver Shawn Shanks. The duo was able to keep the AWD on track with limited mechanical issues and running in a good position for the hand off to driver, and Baja legend Steve Hengeveld and his co-driver to take the truck through the night and eventually hand the reigns to Jonathan Brenthel to take it the rest of the way to the finish.

Crossing the finish line is a testament to the robustness and capabilities of the Brenthel AWD TT. The culmination of a lot of man hours, testing, R&D, driver feedback, and determination. This is only the beginning for the AWD, and it’s safe to say it’s future is bright. Now, the team is back to work to get the truck prepped and ready to make a statement in 2023.
