14-year-old Colton Brenthel at the 2026 Mint 400!

Perris, CA – April 4, 2026 – Brenthel Industries, the premier manufacturer of championship-winning Trophy Trucks and the home of the world’s only official Trophy Truck driving school, proudly highlights the remarkable achievement of 14-year-old Colton Brenthel at the 2026 Mint 400.
In his second desert race ever, Colton competed in a Brenthel-built Trophy Truck Spec in the highly competitive Sportsman class. Facing 10 skilled competitors, he delivered a standout performance, securing an impressive 2nd place finish.
This was only Colton’s second time racing in the desert. His debut came earlier this year at the Parker 400, where he had just 5 miles of prior seat time in a race truck before lining up. At the Mint 400, the father-son duo executed a seamless handoff strategy: Colton drove and pushed hard through the demanding first two laps, while Jonathan Brenthel took over for the final legs. They swapped roles as navigators—Jonathan guiding Colton early, then Colton navigating for his dad—showcasing trust, communication, and shared skill developed through Brenthel’s hands-on coaching.
Colton demonstrated maturity beyond his years, racing with focus, patience, and precision. He even hit a blistering 118 mph on the lakebed, proving the capability of both the driver and the machine.
“This is exactly what our Trophy Truck coaching and arrive-and-drive program is all about,” said Jonathan Brenthel, co-owner of Brenthel Industries and racer of the #27 AWD Trophy Truck in the SCORE International series. “We build these trucks and teach the skills so that enthusiasts of all ages and experience levels can get behind the wheel and perform at a high level. If a 14-year-old with minimal prior seat time can podium in his second desert race at the Mint 400, imagine what our structured coaching can do for you—whether you’re a weekend warrior, a aspiring racer, or someone who just wants to experience the thrill of a real Trophy Truck.”
At Brenthel Industries’ Trophy Truck School (brentheltts.com), participants receive professional instruction in a safe, controlled environment before hitting real desert terrain. The program emphasizes vehicle control, navigation, high-speed desert driving techniques, and race strategy—skills that translate directly from the school to the racecourse.

“Even a child can do it”—and Colton Brenthel just proved it on one of off-road racing’s biggest stages.
Brenthel Industries continues to lead the industry with innovative AWD and 2WD Trophy Trucks, Spec class vehicles, and luxury pre-runners, while making high-performance off-road driving accessible through its arrive-and-drive experiences.
