La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico
After three years in design and development, Brenthel Industries’ new Trophy Truck in conjunction with Richard Armstrong owner/driver of Full Bore Motorsports was released into the wild with a run down the Baja Peninsula during the 50th anniversary of the SCORE Baja 1000. Innovative concepts were combined with desert proven designs to create the new Trophy Truck that withstood a punishing Baja 1000 race, right out of the box.
Only fully assembled the morning of the race, the working prototype had just a few miles of pre-race testing. Brenthel’s wealth of knowledge amassed while conceiving, designing, building, and prepping over 70 race vehicles since opening their doors, has all been integrated into this design. The truck not only embodies sound ideas, but it also takes full advantage of the latest computer aided design tools, state of the art materials and precise manufacturing. Starting way back in field, the truck finished in 15th place after 1134 brutal miles of Baja terrain with next to no testing. At the time of the race, the truck had not undergone fine adjustment of the suspension or tuning of the King Shocks to realize its full potential.
“We took extraordinary measures to insure there were no compromises,” said Jonathan Brenthel of Brenthel Industries. “TTXX has a unique swingset steering system to eliminate bumpsteer throughout suspension travel and steering articulation. A standard rack and pinion can only eliminate bumpsteer in a straight line. The composite body panels are designed in CAD for perfect fitment, and then machined on a CNC mill with a 20 foot long table. The truck has all new geometry with perfectly integrated front and rear swaybars that work amazingly. The truck sticks to the ground and remains flat while cornering; enabling you to go faster and smoother through the turns.
Every corner is an opportunity to gain time on the competition. Driving so many different styles of trucks with varied geometry really helped us to fine tune our vehicles. We took everything we’ve learned over the last 15 years and put the most effective concepts into this truck. Being able to accurately set adjustments where you want them and get noticeable results; we feel we’ve nailed it with this one. There’s always room for improvement so we’ll start our shock tuning with KING in the upcoming weeks to get the truck even further refined.”
Brenthel Industries built race vehicles are as diverse as their owners. Brenthel provides impeccable quality, championship winning performance, and all-inclusive customer service and support. The attention to detail comes straight from the top. Jordan and Jonathan are not your typical owners. They both possess every skillset needed to deliver their products from a pile of raw materials to a functioning vehicle. They incorporate their first-hand knowledge in CAD design, welding, fabrication, assembly, plumbing, wiring and more into every design. The race prep, chase support and Arrive and Drive programs have been developed through their extensive racing experience. When it comes to selecting a builder, you can compromise, or you can insist on the best; Brenthel Industries.
